Arrival – Colombo
Arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport. Private transfer to Colombo for a refined city landing. Settle into a boutique or heritage-style hotel. Colombo to Sigiriya via Dambulla
Colombo to Sigiriya via Dambulla, approximately 4 hrs total with sightseeing. Depart Colombo by 8am and drive inland toward the Cultural Triangle, briefing guests that this is the longest first driving day of the tour. Guided visit to Dambulla Cave Temple en route. Explore its ancient cave murals, gilded Buddha statues and centuries of Buddhist devotion before continuing to Sigiriya. Evening at leisure in a jungle or lakeside boutique resort. Overnight in Sigiriya.

Sigiriya – Rock Fortress and Village Culture
Sigiriya rock fortress and village culture. Early morning climb of Sigiriya Rock Fortress with guided storytelling on the royal water gardens, frescoes, Mirror Wall and summit ruins. Afternoon village experience with lake canoeing, paddy-field paths, traditional cooking and local lifestyle interpretation. Optional sunset Pidurangala viewpoint for photography. Sigiriya to Kandy via Matale
Sigiriya to Kandy via Matale, approximately 3 hrs. Travel through spice-growing countryside with an optional Matale spice garden stop for cinnamon, cardamom, pepper and traditional herbal knowledge. Afternoon guided visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic during ceremonial hours. Evening walk around Kandy Lake or optional Kandyan cultural dance performance. Overnight in Kandy.

Kandy – Gardens, Craft and Colonial Calm
Kandy gardens, craft and colonial calm. Morning visit to Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, including the orchid house, palm avenues and giant Java fig tree. Afternoon artisan experience with batik, gem craft, wood carving or local market walk depending on interest. Optional high tea or hill-view dinner at a boutique property. Overnight in Kandy.

Kandy to Nuwara Eliya – Tea Country
Kandy to Nuwara Eliya, approximately 2.5 hrs. Scenic drive into tea country through waterfalls, mountain roads and estate landscapes. Visit a working tea plantation for leaf plucking, factory tour and Ceylon tea tasting. Explore Gregory Lake, the old post office and colonial hill-station streets of Nuwara Eliya. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.

Scenic Train – Nanu Oya to Ella
Nuwara Eliya to Ella by scenic train from Nanu Oya, approximately 3.5 hrs. Optional Horton Plains upgrade can be added with a 6am departure, returning by noon before the Nanu Oya to Ella train where timing allows. Board the iconic hill-country train through misty valleys, tea terraces, waterfalls and tunnels. Arrive in Ella and check in to a hill-view boutique lodge. Evening relaxed cafe walk or sunset viewpoint stop. Overnight in Ella.

Ella – Highland Views and Soft Adventure
Ella highland views and soft adventure. Morning hike to Little Adam’s Peak through tea paths and open ridgelines. Visit Nine Arch Bridge and time the stop for a train crossing where possible. Optional Ravana Falls visit, tea estate walk, zipline or Ella village cafe exploration. Overnight in Ella.

Ella to Yala
Ella to Yala, approximately 3 to 3.5 hrs via Wellawaya. Descend from the cool highlands into Sri Lanka’s southern dry-zone wilderness. Stop at Ravana Falls for photographs. Afternoon private jeep safari in Yala National Park focusing on leopards, elephants, crocodiles, peacocks and coastal lagoon birdlife. From May to September, confirm whether Yala Block 1 is open before booking and substitute Udawalawe if required. Overnight near Yala in a boutique safari lodge or luxury tented camp.

Yala to Galle
Yala to Galle, approximately 2.5 to 3 hrs. Optional dawn safari for wildlife enthusiasts or relaxed breakfast at the lodge. Continue along the southern coast toward Galle Fort. Any Mirissa whale watching added en route must be sold only from November to April, with Bundala flamingos, Koggala Lake or stilt fisherman photography used as off-season alternatives. Afternoon guided walk through the UNESCO-listed fort, including the lighthouse, Dutch Reformed Church, ramparts, boutique lanes, galleries and cafes. Overnight in Galle.

Galle to Colombo – Departure
Galle to Colombo departure, approximately 2.5 hrs. Final morning inside Galle Fort with optional shopping, cafe stop or coastal photography. Transfer along the Southern Expressway to Colombo or Bandaranaike International Airport. Optional Colombo stop depending on flight time. Departure.

- November to April offers the cleanest combination of coast, safari and hill-country travel. From May to September, confirm Yala Block 1 access and use Udawalawe where a quieter or more reliable safari alternative is needed.
