Galle Fort is a working town inside 17th-century Dutch coral-stone ramparts above the Indian Ocean – Portuguese foundations, Dutch reconstruction, British additions, all still legible in an afternoon’s walk with the right guide. The lighthouse, the Dutch Reformed Church, the boutique lanes and the rampart walk at golden hour. The southern coastal drive adds context to the approach.
