Practical Notes
November to April suits the southern coast best; January to April is strongest for Horton Plains and hill-country walking. Moderate fitness is recommended for Sigiriya, Knuckles and Horton Plains. Leech protection should be prepared for Knuckles from May to October.
Wildlife sightings, whale watching, sea conditions, rail timings and weather-dependent activities are never guaranteed. Where needed, The Uncommon Route will recommend the most sensible seasonal alternative.
